Why these tropes fit
Velasin vin Aaro of Ralia compromises a diplomatic marriage arrangement when a confrontation reveals his preference for men. Rather than end the alliance, the Tithenai envoy proposes that Vel marry Caethari Aeduria, his former intended's brother. Cae anticipated a political marriage but is shaken by a betrothal to a man from a country where such relationships are forbidden. An unknown faction begins killing to sabotage their new alliance, forcing Vel and Cae to rely on each other for survival. Love emerges between them over time as they navigate this danger together, set against a backdrop of intricate court politics.
