Why these tropes fit
After being kidnapped by aliens and rescued by the Clecanians, Jade must remain on their planet for a year under their cultural rules, which require her to choose a husband. She selects Theo, a scarred, solitary mercenary long passed over by other females, intending to play along only until she can return to Earth. Theo, who suspects she is a spy, is determined to expose her. Forced together by the arrangement, the two develop undeniable chemistry even as Jade plans to go home.
