Why these tropes fit
On her worst birthday, the protagonist comes home to find her boyfriend with another woman, leaving her drunk and homeless. When the seductive Seelie King Torin arrives in town seeking fae like her, she drunkenly hurls insults at him and catches his attention. He offers her fifty million to enter a deadly competition for the hand of Seelie queen, insisting the marriage will be a charade rather than a real union. As she spends more time with the king and rivals fight to the death for the crown, the line between their fake arrangement and genuine feeling begins to blur, putting both her life and her heart at stake.
