Why these tropes fit
Standup comedian Farley Jones has secretly been in love with Meyer Harrigan, her older manager and closest friend, a former standup star turned single father to his deaf daughter Hazel. After three years of hiding her feelings to protect their friendship and working relationship, the biggest career opportunity of Farley's life requires her and Meyer to fake-date for publicity. The comedic pretense pulls those buried feelings out into the open, transforming years of agony into a real romance between a loud, chaotic comedian and her grumpy, protective former-star manager.
