Why these tropes fit
Immortal vampire Marguerite Argeneau, 700 years old and newly training as a private investigator, takes her first assignment to locate an immortal's missing mother. The case escalates into danger when she wakes to find a sword at her throat. Fellow vampire Julius Notte, who has not courted a woman in over 500 years, recognizes Marguerite as his lifemate and is determined to protect and woo her, striving to keep her alive long enough for them to achieve their happily-ever-after.
